I went for a walk with Ed this morning and I was feeling discouraged by the ugliness I see on the news. I let Ed choose our path and he led us to the beach. The shore welcomed me—crisp air, steady waves, a horizon that stretched out—and quietly reminded me that beauty still exists, that it thrives, and that sometimes it simply needs to be searched for.

Finding it doesn’t require grand gestures. It can be a moment of attention, a small kindness, a rescued piece of trash, a shared smile, a planted seed, or a hand offered when someone stumbles. When we look for beauty, we begin to notice how much of it is already here, waiting for us to tend it.
