Want to take your stretching to the next level? Try the Contract/Relax strategy to unlock deeper flexibility and muscle release. Here's how to do it in 3 easy steps:
1οΈβ£ Stretch & Hold: Begin by taking your limb into a gentle stretch position and hold it for about 20 seconds. This allows the muscle being stretched to relax and prepare for deeper work. π
2οΈβ£ Contract Gently: Now, gently push or pull against resistance to activate the muscle youβre stretching (Active Inhibition) or its opposite (Reciprocal Inhibition). Hold for 7-10 seconds, then stop and relax. Breathe in deeply. π¬οΈ
3οΈβ£ Re-stretch & Relax: On your breath out, go back into the stretch position and hopefully a little more range is now available. Hold for about 10 seconds and repeat the contraction/relaxation again. Focus on being present and deeply relaxed while you stretch. πΈ
This method helps release tension, improve range of motion, and bring your body into a state of total relaxation.
