DirtyJacks Computer Repair - Sales and Service
A Computer Sales and Service store located in Port McNeill, and Servicing North Vancouver Island from Zeballos to Holberg. Specialty parts by order.
So, I had another guy today who bought all his parts elsewhere and expected me to tell him how to fix his mistakes... for free.
His parting shot as he left my store? "You think you're a God who won't tell people how to do things themselves".
Correct me if I'm wrong.... the sign says DirtyJacks Computer Repair, not DirtyJacks Computer Advice. You want it fixed? I can do that. You want advice???.. show me some money.
I used to loathe Windows 10, and thought that was as low as Microsoft would go; then they released Windows 11.

I detest Windows 11. It is a retrograde step, and takes the worst from the Apple ecosystem, translates it poorly to the windows ecosystem and leaves the user with this awkward interface that is simultaneously difficult to navigate and non-intuitive. To be fair, it's harder to work on than Windows 8. And much like Windows 8, it requires the purchase of a program to make the program files into a useable list.
I'll stay with Windows 10 until it goes out of support, then unless something dramatic happens, I'll switch to linux.

Did you buy a computer from NewEgg? If you did, or if you bouhht a gigabyte power supply, you should read this
Newegg Forced People to Buy Gigabyte Power Supplies With Catastrophic Failure Rates
Well, the graphics card situation does not seem to be opening up...in fact, it's so bad that scalpers are selling gtx 1650's ( a $230 priced card under normal circumstances) for $500-$600, ans people are actually buying them.
The venerable 1050ti, which was new almost 4 years ago is currently selling (if you can find one) for $500.00. It used to sell for between $100.00 and $300.00 depending on where you got it ($69.00 usd on wish, for example).
All the online retailers have their decent graohics cards listed as "out of stock" or "coming soon", with no real indication of when "soon" might be. And there are factories in China that manufacture these cards that have had their stock stolen in GTA-like heists. I have no doubt that some of the high priced cards on Ebay are some of that stolen stock.
So, if you're looking to upgrade your rig, you may be out of luck for a while.
I'll keep you posted.
