After my husband died, I took the deliberate step to really embrace my grief, not judge those who didn’t understand it, and to experience everything I could — in a society that likes to tuck death neatly away in mortuaries and funeral homes.

It is the hardest thing I have ever experienced thus far, but it has also been a place for mining treasure out of the experience. Mining definitely requires hard work, sweat and boatloads of tears.
