In Saskatchewan (Building standard Advisory)

National Building Code of Canada is adopted, requiring smoke alarms in all new dwelling units, sleeping rooms, and on every floor.

CO detectors are required in all buildings where regular sleeping accommodation is provided and the building contains a fuel-fired appliance, a solid-fuel fired appliance, or an attached garage.

NOTE: Acc. to the latest standards all CO & smoke detectors should be electrically Hardwired with backup batteries.
