Organizing with Purpose

The main organization in Canada that collects, processes, and distributes unused eyeglasses for developing countries is the Canadian Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centre (CLERC).

What they do: CLERC is an official Lions Clubs International center that cleans, sorts, and packages used eyeglasses (including sunglasses and reading glasses) and sends them to people in need in developing countries, such as in Africa, the Philippines, and the Caribbean.

Where to donate: You can drop off used glasses at most Lions Club locations, participating Hakim Optical stores, and some other optical shops (like FYidoctors or LensCrafters) that have the "Lions Recycle for Sight" collection boxes.

FUN FACT: When you book with O.W.P any of the glasses that were donated during your project go to CLERC.
