😢 It breaks my heart to see dogs in distress at fireworks displays. The loud noises and sudden bursts of light can be extremely frightening for our dogs. I've witnessed dogs panicking and straining against their leashes, desperately trying to escape.
As much as we enjoy watching fireworks, our dogs don't understand what's happening. They don't know the loud booms are supposed to be fun.
Fireworks are for us... not for them.
Fireworks are exciting for people.
For many dogs, they're just loud, confusing, and scary.
Instead of bringing your dog where there are fireworks, let them stay home where they feel safest. Set them up with a cozy space, close the curtains, turn on some music or white noise, and give them a favorite long lasting chew or stuffed KONG to enjoy.
It’s normal to want to take your dog with you so they can have fun. We tend to look for opportunities to bring them along so they don’t have to stay home.
Fireworks just isn’t the right activity.
Don’t worry… your dog won't feel like they're missing out... they’ll be happier at home (and likely grateful that they missed the fireworks). 💙🐶
