Saskatoon Transit doesn’t currently enforce paying bus fare but that may be about to change. In this proposed bylaw, it would be up to the discretion of individual police officers to decide when to enforce these new rules. If city council passes this bylaw in July, it will go into effect on September 1st, 2026.

Last week, we caught up with Terrance Bear who was a resident in our Youth Lodge transition home over 20 years ago! Facing homelessness at 18 years old, Terrance moved in with us while he was completing school and working part time. He recalls that the free housing and internal supports enabled him to save money and get set up so he could live independently. His fondest memories are of the staff who operated the home: “It was them that made the house feel like home. It was just stable and safe.”

Decades later, we are still running our transition home for male-identified youth aged 16-21 and Terrance runs his own business Extra Mile Junk Removal ! We often hire him and his partner to assist our maintenance team hauling junk. We are so happy to see how well Terrance has done for himself and we highly recommend his services to anyone 💙
