π±π Embracing Nature's Classroom: Shelley's Forest School Journey ππΏ
Shelley, our passionate Forest School director, has shared her journey through a beautiful poem that reflects her learning and growth. π³β¨
OUR FOREST OF WONDER
Amidst the trees so tall and proud,
A forest of wonder stands out from the crowd.
Where children come to learn and play,
And nature is their guide every day.
With the rustling leaves as their choir,
They gather to explore, learn and aspire.
Their hands touch bark, soil and stone,
As the natural world becomes their own.
With every step, they discover new,
The wonders of the forest so true.
From tiny bugs to towering trees,
They learn and explore with curious ease.
Their senses are awakened, their hearts light,
As they embrace the forest with all their might
Their laughter echoes, their joy unbound,
As they explore what the forest surrounds.
For in this place, learning is fun,
And nature is where it's begun.
A classroom of earth, trees, and sky,
A place, where minds and hearts can fly.

πΏπ Embrace the Adventure: The Benefits of Risky Play in Nature! π³ποΈ
Ever wondered why risky play in natural settings, like forests or parks, is so valuable for kids (and adults too!)? Let's explore the perks! π€ΈββοΈπ
Boosts Confidence: Risky play challenges kids to push their boundaries and take calculated risks. This boosts their self-esteem and confidence as they conquer fears and learn new skills.
Enhances Problem-Solving: Natural settings encourage creativity and problem-solving. When kids navigate uneven terrain or build tree forts, they're using their imagination and critical thinking.
Physical Fitness: Climbing, balancing, and running in nature promote physical fitness, coordination, and strength. It's a fun way to stay active!
Emotional Resilience: Risky play helps children manage fear and anxiety, teaching them to cope with and adapt to new situations, which can build emotional resilience.
Connection to Nature: Engaging with the outdoors fosters a deep appreciation and respect for the environment. It encourages future conservation efforts.
Social Skills: Cooperative risky play, like building a bridge over a stream or working together on a challenging task, enhances teamwork and communication skills.
So, the next time you see your child climbing a tree or exploring a forest, remember, they're not just having fun; they're gaining invaluable life skills! ππ²
