Agra Risk Wheatland Kings

The Agra Risk Wheatland Kings are proud to announce the appointment of Garret Vander Ploeg as Assistant Coach.

Vander Ploeg returns to the Kings organization after an outstanding playing career with the franchise from 2017–2022. During his time in Wheatland County, Garret established himself as one of the greatest players in franchise history, holding the all-time records for career points, goals, and games played. He also sits second in franchise history for career assists, a record currently held by current King Charlie Goll.

Garret finished his Kings career with 138 total points, including 72 goals, across 146 games — a remarkable achievement made even more impressive after his 2020–21 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Garret’s impact on this organization goes far beyond the records he holds,” said Kings General Manager Cody Holdaway. “He understands what it means to wear the Wheatland Kings jersey, and his experience, leadership, and knowledge of the game will be invaluable as we continue to build a championship-calibre program in Strathmore.”

Without a doubt, Garret Vander Ploeg is one of the greatest players to ever wear a Wheatland Kings jersey, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome him back to the Kingdom. 👑

The Wheatland Kings are proud to welcome Athletic Therapist Stacy Greenwood back behind the bench for the 2026–27 season. After nearly two decades in the game and years spent supporting Kings players past, present, and future, Stacy is set for one final season with the club.
