Good morning from my newest Nephew, Cheddar!

10/08/2024

Yeah Jenna!!!!

With an average field size bigger than we have ever seen, the 2024 Season was a nail biter for our Mission Jr Street Racers as the top 5 racers were not determined until the very last races of the year.

Jenna Munro, in her Rookie year held onto the points lead for much of the season, only to be eclipsed by Tyler Smith, last years series champ, in the last 2 races of the season.

The points are tight for these Top 5 racers, as were many of their races!

Congratulations to the 2024 JBS ET Series Top 5 on an amazing season!

The Farmer Memorial Mission Finals was a pretty special weekend for the Munro Racing Family. To start off Friday evening all 4 of the Munro family racers were qualified for the Race of Champions in Hot Rod and Jr. Street. The chip draw went well with none of us having to race each other in round one but unfortunately all of us did lose in round one so we would have been better off drawing each other… Saturday we had great conditions for racing and we all made PB or near PB passes! It was especially cool to see OG Rob Munro go 8.68 in his model A. I wonder if he will try to run in Door Slammer at the West Coast Shootout next weekend 🤔
The 69 Acadian of Rob Munro was doing well and going rounds in Pro and Hot Rod. In Pro we were in tough against Jim Behnke and took a rip at the tree going .004 vs. Jims .006 which made for a terrific race but Jim came out ahead by .006 at the stripe as the Acadian could only manage a 10.47 on the 10.44 dial. However we took that knowledge and made use of it in Hot Rod taking it all the way to the finals where we faced off against Wayne Douglas in his convertible Dart. Wayne dialed 13.58 and the Acadian was dialed 10.46. We were really close off the starting line with Wayne going .035 and Rob cutting an .031 light. Wayne got to the stripe first by .027 breaking out running a 13.54 and Rob was under too but only by .0058 going 10.4542 to turn on the win light! What a surreal feeling as I saw no win light in either lane and thought I had it but couldn’t be sure until I looked at the slip. That was the First Wally win and really did take some time to sink in.
Saturday night’s racer appreciation BBQ was fantastic, what a way to celebrate and enjoy a big win! Sunday morning we were a little groggy but had until 10:00am to be ready to race and thankfully mother nature cooperated enough to allow us to complete the program on Sunday. Sunday turned out to be Taryn’s day! We were a bit unlucky to have the Munro sisters have to face each other first round and in fact the Stobbe brothers also had to race each other in round one. Taryn came out on top with a strong light and a touch of right foot work on the top end to run 9.94 on her 9.93 dial. Jenna put up a great effort going 10.766 on her 10.76 dial also whomping it a couple times to be right there at the finish line. Taryn was a bit lucky in round 2 against Sophia who broke out by just .002! Taking the stripe when the Beaumont couldn’t come up with its 9.93 dial. Moving onto the final we faced off against David and were dialed almost heads up. The Beaumont was dialed 10.05 to David’s Chevy truck at 10.01 we left first but quickly David drove around us and dad, full of anxiety started thinking out loud saying “that’s ok we top end hard and will drive back around him” we did exactly that and taryn tightened it up on the top end and took the stripe going a safe and winning 10.09. At 73 mph. What an awesome way to finish her Jr. Street season!

Thank you to Neil Smith from Pedan Industries, your beautiful 66 Beaumont is truly a winner!

Sylvia Hoogstins for everything you do at the track and keeping Hot Rod class thriving!

We took advantage of the empty track and amazing sunset a few weekends ago and did a “first year of racing” photo shoot with Jenna.

The sunset was beautiful, the clouds stunning and the light just perfect! 😍

Love these photos and that both the girls have gotten into racing!

A huge shout out to Neil Smith @ Peden Industries for sponsoring the samily and for all the support you have given us this year!

Its been busy around the Munro House this summer, one of the ongoing projects has been Taryn’s engine build. She has been a part of every part of the build, learning as they go, and getting her hands dirty. This past week she learned to weld as her and Rob put together the exhaust for the Blazer. A HUGE thank you goes out to Neil Smith from Peden Industries for all you have done for Taryn and our family! 💜
