Just a reminder : BC NEW FOAL INCENTIVE – FOALS OF 2025
All BC Bred 2025 Foals must submit the completed BC New Foal Incentive Application by December 31, 2025; foal must be in the Standardbred Canada database and the mare must be registered with the HRBC Mare Registry in order to be eligible.
DEADLINE: ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED NO LATER THAN DECEBMER 31st (YEAR OF FOALING) IN ORDER TO RECEIVE THE BC NEW FOAL INCENTIVE and MEMBER MUST BE IN GOOD STANDING WITH HRBC TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE INCENTIVE.

CITY OF SURREY ISSUES NOTICE TO VACATE PREMISES AT FRASER DOWNS - LIVE RACING TERMINATED
On August 15, 2025, Kelly MacMillan, President of Harness Racing BC received an email from Wayne Odegard, Great Canadian Entertainment, Regional Vice President, Operations BC confirming that (“Orangeville”) had received notice from the City of Surrey, landlord and owner of Fraser Downs Racetrack, of the exercise of its option under the Lease Agreement to terminate Orangeville’s lease of Fraser Downs. This termination includes the backstretch, the stabling facilities, and the racetrack, and obligates Orangeville to timely deliver vacant possession.
Accordingly, live horse racing at Fraser Downs is terminated, with immediate effect. All scheduled meetings between representatives of Orangeville, HRBC and GPEB are cancelled.
As shocked as we all are, the HRBC Board of Directors will work diligently towards investigating the repercussions of this termination and will advise the membership as information is received.
The Board of Harness Racing BC asks for all to be patient at this time.
