Mallory Lowe Mpoka | Architecture of the Self:
What Lives Within Us
Book Launch at
Thursday, November 28
7PM-9PM

Please join us this Thursday, November 28th to celebrate the Toronto launch of artist โ€™s inaugural photo book โ€œArchitecture of the Self: What Lives Within Usโ€, published by

In this book, Lowe Mpoka skilfully assembles the fruits of this rich period of introspection: self-portraits, archival photographs, poems and personal narratives. Through an auto-ethnographic approach, she weaves her own narrative with the collective stories of her family archive, exploring themes such as memory, representation and subversion. At the heart of the book lies a profound reflection on the role of territory as a place of trauma and possibility, and its influence on the construction of identity, despite the weight of the colonial legacy.

Join us to raise a glass and hear Mallory Lowe Mpoka in conversation with to discuss the process of building this richly multi-layered publication.
