It’s Day 6 of our Scotland Modern Tartan High Tops giveaway!

Apologies for not sharing an update yesterday. We were experiencing some cat-related technical difficulties. And while Fraser was busy hiding the Scotland Modern laptop, he didn’t seem to notice our new box of black Sharpies. Looks like someone’s come down with a case of the funny eyebrows today.

Robert Roy MacGregor (Raibeart Ruadh MacGriogair) was a Scottish outlaw and folk hero, and the wonderful MacGregor tartan pictured here is named in his honour.

You might know it by another name, however. In North America, this pattern is commonly associated with lumberjacks and buffalo.

The name "Buffalo check" was coined in 1850 by a designer at a Woolrich mill in Pennsylvania. He decided to copy the iconic Rob Roy MacGregor tartan and, oddly enough, rebrand it in favour of his herd of buffalo (rebrand, buffalo—there's a pun in there somewhere, I swear).

But here at Scotland Modern, we see no buffalo. We call this beautiful pattern by its proper Rob Roy name with MacGregor Clan association.

And now to these killer high tops. Who doesn't love red sneakers?
