-Recent research shows that even 6 hours is not enough for the body to adequately recover and recharge. 7-9 hours is the ideal range.
- There is a science to “night people” and “morning people”. People naturally have different circadian schedules. We tend to exist on a rigid morning focused schedule in the Western world.
- We also tend to glorify a lack of sleep as a badge of honour. Chronic poor sleep can increase all cause mortality risk by over 50%. Your immune system, your mental well being, your physical brain health will alone negatively impacted. Diseases like cancer, Alzheimer’s and various heart conditions can all be partially attributed to poor rest.
- Would you rather work for 12 hours at 50% or 6 hours at 100%?
Productivity is about quality, not quantity. A well rested mind will have a better handle a few tasks exceptionally well as opposed to many tasks with a moderate effort.
I highly recommend reading Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker. An eye opening book into the science of sleep and how crucial it truly is to your whole being.
