It goes something like this… the first ever stork scissors were created in the 19th century and were used by midwives to stop blood flow in a newborn baby’s umbilical cord after birth.

Plus, back then there wasn’t much to do while waiting around for a baby to be born, so midwives would often keep their birthing kit and embroidery kit together so they could easily access both!
