Can we retire the idea that dining rooms are just for entertaining? Because some of the best memories happen when nobody’s visiting.
Slow breakfasts before work. Kids colouring while dinner cooks. Catching up over takeout because nobody had time to cook. Late-night chats after everyone else has gone to bed. That’s real life.
When we design dining spaces, that’s the version of life we think about first. This home belongs to a family entering a new chapter as their children grow older, so every space was designed to evolve with them instead of staying frozen in one season of life.
Save this for dining room inspiration.

I think we spend way too much time chasing “timeless”... without talking about what actually makes a room stay timeless.
It’s usually not the colour palette. It’s making thoughtful decisions that won’t need explaining five years from now.
Suzanne loved classic architecture. Andrew preferred contemporary design. Instead of choosing one direction, we looked for places where the two naturally overlapped.
Traditional millwork. Sculptural modern furniture. Soft marble around the fireplace. Organic lighting overhead. Clean-lined seating balanced by warm textures and subtle colour. Nothing feels forced because every decision respected both the home’s history and the people living in it.

Maybe it’s because Canadian summers never feel long enough, but I think every sunny day deserves to be squeezed for all it’s worth.
Morning coffee outside. Kids running through the yard. Friends staying well past sunset because nobody wants to go home yet. That’s exactly the feeling we wanted to create in this Gloucester backyard.
Instead of treating the backyard like an afterthought, we designed it as another living space. Covered dining for family meals. Comfortable seating gathered around the fire pit.
Durable, easy-care furniture that can handle everyday life. Thoughtful lighting that keeps the space welcoming after dark. Even the layout was planned so moving between dining, lounging, and entertaining feels completely natural.

Maybe it’s just me, but I think coming home should feel different than arriving at work.
Life is noisy.
Traffic. Emails. Group chats. School pickups. Grocery runs. A hundred little decisions before dinner.
Then you walk through your front door. That transition matters more than people realize.
An entryway isn’t just a place to store shoes and coats. It’s the space that helps you switch gears. From rushing to relaxing. From doing to being.
After designing countless entryways over the years, we’ve learned that the best ones do more than solve storage problems. Yes, they need to handle coats, bags, boots, and everyday clutter, but they should also create a sense of calm the moment you walk in.
Save this for entryway inspiration.

You know you’ve outgrown your kitchen when everyone ends up standing in the same two square feet.
That was one of the challenges behind Project Hartfield. They loved this kitchen. In fact, they had designed it themselves 25 years earlier. The layout worked. The memories were there, but life had evolved and the kitchen hadn’t quite kept up.
Because they love entertaining, creating places for people to naturally gather became a huge focus. The island was designed without a sink interrupting the surface, leaving plenty of room for appetizers, wine glasses, and the inevitable crowd that forms whenever food is involved. Just steps away, the custom banquette offers a second gathering spot for morning coffee, newspaper reading, casual meals, and long conversations. Extending it wall-to-wall gave them comfortable everyday seating and extra room when the house is full.
