Government Resuming Full Immigration Services - Axima Healthcare Inc. 05/05/2023

The recent Canadian federal worker strike had a significant impact on essential services such as healthcare, immigration, and passport renewals. The strike, which began on April 19, has affected everyone from migrant workers to sponsored relatives, from foreign students to refugee claimants whose hearings have been canceled. The strike involved approximately 155,000 public sector union workers, with an agreement reached with 120,000 workers. However, more than 35,000 revenue agency workers are still negotiating, which will continue to slow down the processing of annual tax returns. The strike caused delays and disruptions, resulting in significant consequences for individuals and businesses relying on essential services.
Efficient and effective processing times are critical for healthcare services, particularly during a global pandemic when timely access to medical care is vital. Delays can lead to a loss of critical care, which is essential for patient outcomes and recovery.

IRCC Strike Delays Processes - Axima Healthcare Inc. 04/20/2023

Canada’s largest federal public-service union, consisting of 155,000 members, has gone on strike today while negotiations continue. This strike affects almost one-third of all federal public servants, and the government and the union have warned of possible disruptions, such as delays at the border and complications with immigration and passport applications.
The government claims to be dedicated to negotiating fair collective agreements for employees that are also reasonable for taxpayers. However, the government has deemed the union’s demands as “unaffordable,” and it has warned of how the strike could affect Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) services.
The strike is also likely to have an impact on processing work permits, which could cause problems for foreign workers who are trying to find jobs in Canada. Some federal public-service union members are responsible for processing work permits, and without them, it could take much longer for work permits to be issued. This delay could cause inconvenience for both employers and employees.
