If you watch what other people do... and think 'I should do that'...

How are you going to stand out?

If you follow what other people in your industry are doing... you are going to blend in.

Do something different!

Hell, do EVERYTHING different!

What differentiates us from others in our industry?

1. Hourly pricing (with no monthly commitment ! You only have to pay for what you need)
2. We are a team! You have a problem? Someone at TVA can solve it!
3. We aren't just going to do what you want, if it doesn't make sense (and is a waste of your money) we will tell you!
4. We don't want you to need us forever. If we do our jobs right you will become more efficient and need less of us.

Our goal is to make your lives EASIER, not rely on us forever.

What differentiates you in your industry?

Collections was my first job right out of University…

Ok well there was that brief summer stint selling makeup, I was pretty good at it too considering I don’t wear makeup…😂🤣😂🤣😂

Collections taught me a LOT of lessons and I can honestly say 9 years in the collection industry has shaped who I am today in a number of ways - personally and professionally.

The NUMBER ONE thing that it taught me was 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁

CLOSE DOWN EVERY NIGHT!

Sounds simple… right?

But as business owners we struggle to stop, switch our brains off, close all the tabs, have a clear end to the day etc. For our mental health - we NEED TO!

In collections there is a clean desk policy - when you leave for the day there better be no paper on your desk, pens put away, and computers locked. At midnight every night all computers would be restarted, so if you left what you were working on open - it was gone in the morning.

Why was this a lesson?

Ever since working in collections, when I am done for the day, I close all the tabs open on my computer, I close the open apps, I close Outlook… then I recycle or file any papers sitting on my desk, put the pens and highlighters away, put the stapler back beside the printer, grab any empty water bottles - before I walk away for the night.

It doesn’t matter what time of the day this happens - but when I am done for the day - I tidy up.

The power of a clear switch off at night time and being “done” for the night is that when I get to my desk in the morning, I have a fresh start. Any chaos, overwhelm, stress or frustration from the day before was tidied away when I left my desk.

I get to start with a fresh slate, every day!

⚠️⚠️I dare you to try this and NOT feel a difference...⚠️⚠️

I am 100% Goldilocks when it comes to my morning Starbucks...

I always mobile order, but when I get there.. if it isn't the proper balance of coffee and milk... I will say something.

🥛 Too dark - I will ask for some milk
☕️ Too light - I will ask for more coffee
✅ Perfect colour - I say "Thanks! Have a nice day:)"

Here is the thing...

Consistently asking for more milk or more coffee when it wasn't how I wanted it - helped them learn exactly how I want it. Now, most days are ✅ perfect!

And bonus, for the days they aren't - before I even have a chance to say anything - someone usually says "more milk?".

No one has to guess how I want my coffee, I don't make it up based on my mood. It is always the same.

This story MAY in fact make it seem like I am a b***h... but there is absolutely nothing wrong with asking for what you want - and the more you do it, the easier it gets for the people on the other side.

And of course I am going to tie this in to business - that's how I roll!

In business if you don't communicate what you want... your employees, colleagues, clients, vendors etc will continue to deliver what they think you want or need... why? Because you've never told them otherwise.

Asking for what you want means you get what you want more often!

Do you struggle to ask for what you want?
