Kings Birthday Long weekend, Provisional driver exceeding the posted speed limit by over 45kph.

About 5:20pm on Monday 8th June 2026, police attached to Mt Druitt Highway Patrol detected on Radar a Mazda cx5 travelling at 157kph on The Great Western Highway in the sign posted 80kph road.

When stopped the 19-year-old male produced a NSW Class C Provisional P2 licence.
The driver was drug and alcohol tested returning negative results on both.

The male driver was issued a Infringement notice for ‘p2 exceed posted speed limit by >45kph’ and had his licence suspended on the spot for a minimum of 6 months. No sanctions were placed on the vehicle registration.

Traffic Services officers on the Northeast Avalon seized two vehicles over the weekend for excessive speeding.

A 29-year-old motorcyclist had his bike seized and license suspended for travelling 159 km/hr on the Outer Ring Road near Allandale Road Saturday afternoon.

About 20 minutes prior, a corvette was seized in the same area for travelling 151 km/hr. The 57-year-old driver also lost his driving privileges.
