“When you’re a cancer patient, all the decisions your doctors make are driven by data. But when you don’t have accurate data to guide people, you have people like me who end up completely in the dark.” — .arise

Thank you, Tabitha, for speaking to the reality of Canada’s fragmented cancer data and supporting the campaign. You nailed why this gap in data is extremely detrimental to people impacted by breast cancer. 🎯

Today, Rethink is meeting with Canada’s federal Minister of Health, the Honourable Marjorie Michel, to discuss the urgent need for more coordinated and connected cancer data systems in Canada, including better reporting on metastatic breast cancer (MBC) recurrences.

We’re hopeful our meeting with the Minister of Health will help move meaningful change forward in having more complete cancer data. Because you deserve to be counted!

‘The social side effects of cancer are real, and nobody really talks about them.

Getting diagnosed with cancer in your 20s impacts every part of your life - including your relationships. Truthfully, one of the hardest parts for me to navigate has been the way it has changed my social life.

Some people get uncomfortable.

Some disappear completely.

And some show up for you with a kind of love and care you’ll never forget.

You find yourself comforting other people about your own diagnosis.

You will lose friends.

You will make new ones.

Cancer changes you - it changes the way you see people, the way you move through the world, and who you choose to keep close 🤍’ — .mercedes

Thank you so much, Sabrina, for sharing about the part of this experience that doesn’t get nearly enough attention. Cancer ghosting is so real. And when you’re diagnosed in the prime of your social life, that carries a lot of weight. That’s why we’ve always been here for younger women. We get it, we got you. 💗
