Toronto is about to get one of its most photogenic sunsets of the year as Torontohenge returns on Feb. 15 at 5:48 p.m. The rare phenomenon happens when the setting sun perfectly aligns with Toronto’s major east–west streets, creating a dramatic glow between downtown buildings that draws photographers and sunset-watchers alike. Streets like King, Queen, and Bloor offer some of the best vantage points, especially where long, straight stretches create a canyon-like effect.

Torontohenge only happens four times a year — twice at sunrise and twice at sunset — when the sun lines up precisely with the city’s street grid. While Feb. 15 marks the main winter sunset date, similar alignments will also occur on April 19 and Aug. 23 at sunrise, and again on Oct. 25 at sunset. Drivers are urged to use caution during these times, as visibility can be reduced during the brightest moments of the alignment.
