Looking forward to looking back on Toronto International Film Festival's Planet Africa programme. Visoionary head Cameron Bailey, Gaylene Gould and June Givanni directed it's 10 year span with the best of African cinema from around the world. It was Wakanda in the sea of Tarzan movies and the wrap party became THE legendary party to attend. Hollywood was thirsty. PA was a revolutionary flag in TO's Black renaissance when we were founding our own businesses, arts organizations, festivals and generally being loud and beautiful en mass. Cameron dreamed up Planet Africa during the aftermath of the Rodney King beating and following uproar. Orla La-Wayne Garriques, produced the Planet Africa legacy website, capturing it's history.
