It's also possible to shoot this kind of photography with smartphones. Often I've used a DSLR or mirrorless but just as often I traveled light. My Pixel has a long exposure mode but if you want to use IPhone or any other just install an app that lets you control length of exposure. 0.5 seconds is enough in late afternoon. 2-4 seconds gives you incredible effects after dark!
