This is Keneth (back right). This photo was taken on New Year’s Eve of 2019 when it was just the three of us working that night. Yesterday we heard the tragic news that Keneth passed away suddenly. He was part of our BOH crew for almost two years and words can’t describe how heartbroken we are. He was a giant of a man, in physical stature, and in the size of his gentle heart and indomitable spirit. He was funny, and kind (although he’d deny the last part, for sure) and had so much love for his wife, his grandma, his mom and sisters, his niece, his bunnies, his sneakers, anything at all related to wrestling… and Glee. Because that’s the kind of man Keneth was. Keneth, you will be missed so, so much. We are grateful that we had the opportunity to know you and to work with you. Our deepest sympathies to his wife Sophia and his family. Rest in power, friend. There is a gofundme set up to help his wife with the funeral expenses if anyone would like to donate: https://www.gofundme.com/f/kenneth-mendozas-funeral?utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet&utm_medium=copy_link_all&utm_source=customer

With deep sadness and incredibly heavy hearts, we would like to say that Rikkochez will be permanently shutting down operations on December 7th, 2020, and that our last day of service will be Sunday December 6th.
In one way or another, this pandemic, and the response to it, has affected everyone. For us, we have gone through the gamut of emotions. And while our hearts wanted to hang on and see this through, our heads asked us to consider the reality. In these times we wanted to remain hopeful, but the uncertainty of what comes next and when it will come, was too much to bear for the future of our restaurant. We will leave having created many, many positive memories and friendships.
This gig has been satisfying and gratifying, terrifying and exhilarating, joyous and stressful and amazing and educational and adrenalising. And sometimes (more recently) surreal and unreal. But most importantly, it's been So. Much. Fun. And more than anything, it has been an absolutely pleasure-filled experience meeting all our guests, and serving up the love that we have for food.
We want to thank the AMAZING Danforth community for their continued support.
We are a very small team now. If you'd like to order from us during this final week, please help us when possible by pre-ordering so that we can manage workflow and inventory. You can pre-order by emailing us at [email protected].
We will continue with our community posts until we've shared all of our memories and show what your love for our food has meant to us.
Stay safe, friends ✌️💜
