Spacesynth is a genre of instrumental synth music renowned for its focus on melodies over rhythm. Characterized by driving basslines, catchy synth riffs, and sci-fi inspirations, Spacesynth is also distinguished by its futuristic track titles and album artwork. Originating in the mid-1980s, Spacesynth emerged alongside the widespread adoption of synthesizers and electronic sounds in popular music, influenced by artists like Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre, Kraftwerk, and Art of Noise. Concurrently, the disco sound in Italy, known as Italo Disco, dominated dancefloors with its simple vocals, melodic synth riffs, and pulsating four-on-the-floor beats, embodying the unmistakable sound of the 1980s.

Initially, Spacesynth began as an instrumental variant of Italo Disco, emphasizing its synth elements. Over time, however, it evolved into a distinct genre in its own right. Notable early pioneers included Cyber People, whose singles "Polaris" and "Void Vision" achieved success on the Memory Records label, and Koto, who developed a unique Italo-inspired synth style with the hit single "Visitors" in 1985. Outside Italy, Erik van Vliet from the Netherlands established Laserdance, collaborating with Michiel van der Kuy to become the most successful Spacesynth acts. Their debut album "Future Generation" (1987) sold approximately 150,000 copies across Europe, bolstered by hits like "Power Run" and "Humanoid Invasion."

Koto and Laserdance quickly became synonymous with Spacesynth, setting the genre's standards during its golden era. Despite waning popularity in the early 1990s amidst the rise of eurodance, house, techno, and their subgenres, Spacesynth experienced a resurgence toward the late 1990s and continues to attract renewed interest today. Labels like Hypersound Productions and Alpha Centauri (formerly AXIS Records) have released numerous Spacesynth albums by emerging artists, reflecting a growing nostalgia for the melodic soundscapes of the 1980s.

Mr. Marco Rochowski is our current ambassador of Spacesynth and he is arguably the very best producer in this genre since the golden era. Marco Rochowski made his debut on Synthesizer Dance Volume 3 in 2001 with the track 'Into Eternity'. Shortly thereafter, he co-founded the Macrocosm project with Anders Lundqvist, a Swedish musician with a longstanding history of producing music for Hypersound Productions since 1999. To date, the Macrocosm project has released two highly successful albums. And Marco has two of his own albums. Mr. Rochowski makes his debut at Infuse with this outage.

And now, for the first time ever, Infused Sound morphs Spacesynth into Trance on the A-side with the help of DR S7R4NG3, Alex Starsound , and Arkeenia ( Infuse debut) aka The Digital Blonde aka Mr. Ricky Smith. B-side Hardtechno Remix is courtesy of Dj Neon & LEZAMAboy, who took a #1 spot in Hard Techno Top 100 chart on Juno with their last release. Our in-house Dr's last release was his album, which went #1 on Juno Uplifting Trance Top 100 chart. And with his last EP release, Alex Starsound gathered some awards on Beatport; a #5 in Dancefloor Essentials 2024: Trance (R/D/H) and #1 track of the week on Z Dobrej Woli chart. This record also got a #9 in Juno Psytrance chart the first week of release. Everyone involved in this project consistently crush charts with their brilliant productions. This release trajectory is super intriguing with some of us enthusiasts, who have been eagerly anticipating this future evolution. It had to be done!
