The purpose of alcohol ignition interlocks is to save lives, as evidenced by recent studies which indicate that strong interlock programs reduce accidents and fatalities.

This year’s symposium will focus primarily on the European context, with emphasis on the strengths of interlock programs currently being implemented in various countries. Having decided to postpone the International Alcohol Interlock Symposium to September 26–28, 2021, the organizing committee continues to closely monitor the situation concerning COVID-19, with the health and safety of all participants as our first priority.

We continue to plan ahead in the hope that the situation will improve. In case an in-person event will not be possible, we're studying the possibility of offering an online virtual version of the event as an alternative solution.
