It is official. The National Gallery of Canada and Canadian Photography Institute have accepted a donation of the Karl Spiess glass negatives, prints and related materials to preserve them for Canadians and future researchers!

In what might be the most amazing and important recognition yet of the work of Karl Spiess, the Canadian Photography Institute at the National Gallery of Canada has featured a Karl Spiess image in the introduction of their comprehensive exhibition book "The Extended Moment - 50 years of collecting photographs". www.shopngc.ca/boutique/en/product/new-publications/ithe-extended-moment-i-english-en.html In the hi-res scan of the woman with bicycle and dog image, it is possible to make out the serial number of the bicycle and the brand of tire!
