Oral Thrush is a condition caused by the overgrowth of the fungus Candida albicans in the mouth. It is more common in infants, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include creamy white lesions on the tongue
inner cheeks, and/or roof of the mouth, redness and soreness, slight bleeding, a cottony feeling in the mouth, and a loss of taste. Diagnosis involves examining the lesions and taking a scraping to examine under a microscope. Treatment involves antifungal medications, warm saltwater rinses, and practicing good oral hygiene.
