Let's talk about what's happening in Toronto's housing market for October.
Many people in the GTA faced two main challenges: homes were too expensive, and there was a lot of uncertainty in the market. This resulted in fewer home sales compared to the previous year. However, the prices at which homes were sold remained higher than last year.
In October 2023, the MLS® Home Price Index Composite benchmark and the average selling price both increased compared to the same time last year, by 1.4% and 3.5%, respectively. When we look at the numbers adjusted for the season, the MLS® HPI Composite benchmark dipped slightly compared to September 2023, but the average selling price stayed relatively the same. Both the MLS® HPI Composite benchmark and the average price remained higher than the lowest points we saw at the beginning of 2023.
