Yousuf Karsh, one of the most well known Canadian photographers. You may remember him from the photograph of Winston Churchill looking grumpy with his hand in his hip. Just before Karsh shoot the photograph Winston had his cigar in his mouth. Karsh, snatches the cigar from Winston's mouth and clicks the shutter. One of the most iconic photos in history was created.

To be honest Karsh has always inspired me because of this antic. When you are on my set watch out for possible antics a kin to Karsh. Antics like that create amazing photographs.

There is something supernatural about creating a portrait. If you get it right, if you make the connection, the photograph is so powerful it's like looking straight at someones soul. To be able to produce a photograph for someone like that is the greatest honour that I have.

This is Arek, the embodiment of Polish strength. No fuss no muss, he cuts right to the bone. One of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. The type of guy I would want on a survival camping trip. He'll get you out alive. Although Polish, he is a typical Canadian. He wears a toque in the summer. For the rest of the world a toque is the hat he is wearing. I love the toque in the summer.
