GlobalMedic’s Rapid Response Team conducted training in Carling Township, using a local quarry to test emergency response capabilities alongside the volunteer fire department.

The training focused on the Fat Truck, our amphibious rescue vehicle manufactured in Quebec. Designed for extreme conditions, the vehicle was able to travel through deep snow, mud, and floodwaters, while also climbing steep obstacles and operating in areas inaccessible to standard emergency vehicles.

By working directly with local first responders, the training helped ensure coordinated and effective response during severe weather events — improving the ability to reach and assist individuals who may be stranded in remote areas across Ontario.

Jan O’Neill, Mayor from Municipality of Marmora and Lake, expressed their appreciation to GlobalMedic for the donation of a Fire Skid to support their local response efforts.

Serving a population of approximately 4,400 residents across a large geographic area, the community continues to rely on adaptable equipment to strengthen its emergency preparedness. While prevention is a first priority, ensuring communities have the right tools means they can be ready to respond when disaster strikes.

With the addition of this unit, the municipality is better equipped to respond when needed, supporting local teams in protecting residents and surrounding areas.

GlobalMedic’s Executive Director, Rahul Singh, was on the ground in İzmir, supporting wildfire preparedness efforts ahead of another high-risk fire season.

Located along the western coast of Türkiye, the region has experienced severe wildfires in recent years, with fires spreading rapidly through the surrounding hills and wildland-urban interface areas.

In response, fire skid units were manufactured locally in İzmir to help strengthen frontline response capacity. Each unit includes a 1,000-litre tank mounted onto a welded skid, complete with a pump and hose system designed to transform standard pickup trucks into mobile fire trucks.

As wildfire season begins, these units will help firefighters respond quicker and improve access to difficult terrain during active fires.

As part of Tangerine’s 29th Anniversary celebrations, Matt Clements, Chief Technology Officer of Tangerine Bank, along with other colleagues, volunteered their time at GlobalMedic.

During their volunteer shift, the Tangerine team worked together to package rice that will be distributed to food banks across Canada, supporting families experiencing food insecurity.

By contributing their time and effort, the Tangerine team helped increase the amount of aid that could be prepared and distributed to communities in need.

A sincere thank you to the Tangerine team for stepping up and supporting communities through meaningful action.

A major upgrade for frontline wildfire response in Newfoundland. 🚒🔥

This new fire skid unit has officially arrived at Conception Bay South Fire, serving the growing communities of 30,000 people just outside St. John’s. As one of the few paid fire departments in the province, this fire department plays a critical role during emergencies including this year’s wildfire response efforts.

Now, with this newly equipped fire skid unit added to their fleet, firefighters will be even more prepared to protect homes, families, and Town of Conception Bay South communities when disaster strikes.

From battling wildfires to strengthening emergency readiness, this delivery marks a big step forward for local response capacity across Newfoundland and Labrador.
