Update on “When Dance Did Sweet” the community fundraiser for Hurricane Melissa.

In the days following Hurricane Melissa, we came together to stand in solidarity with our q***r and trans siblings in Jamaica. What began as a call for help became an extraordinary act of community care.

Through your donations, your presence at the event “When Dancehall Did Sweet”, and your belief in what’s possible when we act together, real unity came to life.

The video you’re about to see captures the post-event journey, from the heartbreak of the hurricane, to the joy and energy of the night we gathered, to the moment we carried your generosity all the way to Jamaica.

Your contributions are already bringing comfort and hope!

We are very proud to share that we raised over $10,000 total in funds and donated items combined.

Some in-kind donations collected were delivered in November directly to community partners in Jamaica, the rest is being shipped in barrels for an early January arrival.

The funds raised through the event and individual donations are now being used to complete critical repairs to the shelter which suffered significant damage during the hurricane.

Stay tuned for more updates as we share the journey with you.

This was all made possible because of your generosity, love, and solidarity.

THANK YOU
