Today is the day to celebrate the indigenous white grape, Verdejo (pronounced: Vurr-day-ho), from our client (Rueda (pronounced: Roo-eh-duh). About Rueda: Rueda, located 170 km northwest of Madrid, near the River Duero, is the second best-selling wine in Spain (considering red, rosé and white wines) after Rioja. White wine consumption in Spain is currently 29% and Rueda’s market share is 44.6% and ranks #1. 

D.O. Rueda’s wine production dates back to the eleventh century when King Alfonso VI granted the land to monasteries. The production of wine gained prestige during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries as one of the “Vinos de la Corte” (wines of the Court of the Castilian Kings). Now, the appellation has 79 wineries, 40% of which have female winemakers, and over 1,523 vine-growers.  Pick up a bottle at your local wine store and celebrate with us!!! 🥂🥂
