Only as strong as your team: How to build a successful Direct Sourcing program - TalentNet 06/09/2026

Your Direct Sourcing program will only go as far as the team behind it.

That’s why choosing the right partners and bringing them in at the right time matters.

VMS. MSP. Curation team. Technology platform. Each plays a different role, but the real impact comes from how they work together.

The strongest programs are not built around one tool or one vendor. They’re built around alignment, ex*****on, and a clear program lead driving the strategy forward.

In our latest blog, we break down what to look for in each partner, where organizations often get it wrong, and why the right foundation changes everything.

Read the blog and see what separates scalable Direct Sourcing programs from the ones that stall out. 👇

We’re welcoming Brad Clayton as Vice President of AI and Transformation at TalentNet.

Brad joins from AWS, where he led the Canada Specialist Organization across Data, AI, and Machine Learning, working with enterprise teams on large-scale transformation. Prior to that, he held senior roles at Microsoft, leading Canadian enterprise-focused innovation teams.

He has been in the rooms where the most rigorous enterprise AI gets built. That is the room we operate in.

Justin Lumby, our President, on why this hire matters now:

'The next era of Direct Sourcing will be defined by how thoughtfully companies apply AI. The opportunity is not just to automate tasks. It is to deliver compounding gains in efficiency, candidate experiences rich enough to surface insight no static profile could reveal, and intelligent agents that connect seamlessly across the hiring lifecycle. Doing that at enterprise scale demands an uncompromising commitment to security and compliance, and that is core to how we build.'

Brad on what he is here to do:

'AI is reshaping how organizations approach talent acquisition, and TalentNet is well positioned to lead that shift in the Direct Sourcing space. I am looking forward to applying my experience in enterprise AI to help build solutions that simplify the hiring process and create new opportunities for industry leaders.'

Brad joins as we move into a new chapter of the work.

One of the biggest myths in Direct Sourcing?

That curators are just pulling names from an existing talent pool.

The reality is great Talent Communities don’t build themselves. Strong Curators are constantly attracting, engaging, and nurturing talent long before a req opens.

As Matt Redling from TalentNet’s Customer Success team shares in this video, successful curation is part recruiter, part marketer, and part community builder.

The best Curators:
📍Understand business needs
📍Run targeted talent campaigns
📍Keep candidates engaged
📍Build ready pipelines before hiring demand hits

If your strategy only relies on the talent already in your pool, growth eventually stalls.

The best Curators don’t just pull from the community. They build it.
