Brook Field Farm

This weekend we had the wonderful Ali Chalk up for some lessons!
I have a bitter sweet transition this summer, with Cameo colicking and slowing down, she’s enjoying her retirement and the time has come for me to transition to another horse as my main ride. We may have the odd day when the stars align and she’s feeling great and I can hop on, but she’s past her time of my daily hop on. This is a very hard transition for me, I’ve always hopped on all my horses, but Cameo is my daily ride. We’ve done the most work together, grown as rider and horse, communicate like nothing else, and almost read each others minds. She’s become such an easy ride for me that I ride tackless 99% of the time!
Having a connection like we do on the ground and on back is hard to get, and I’ve put in countless hours working to get us there. With all the work on the farm, she’s my easy hop on at the end of the day to just enjoy a casual stroll and remind myself of what I’m working my butt off for lol
So as much as I’m grieving the end of an era, I’m trying to embrace the future with positive energy and excitement. I’m blessed that I found Cameo’s great niece, who I will continue my daily rides with, Stevie! So now I’m buckling up to start at the training and work I’ve done with Cameo with Stevie, so we can grow and develop together for years to come.
Stevie is traditionally western, so I asked for help from Ali to come and help me move her to English as it’s my comfort zone. Once her and I are more connected riding together we’ll still flip back to western now and then for a good trail ride, and some clinics to help me learn more western skills! But for now I need her in the saddle that I can be confident in.
So I’m on a new journey, of learning a new horses ins and outs and mastering our relationship on the ground and in saddle.

Filling troughs and I go back to the barn to see Cooper Jail broke out Cameo and the two of them are sharing each others dinners 🤦‍♀️ I’m so glad I put so much effort into researching each horses nutritional needs and customizing diets ….

Clark has a serious fear of bugs, all bugs, from mosquitoes to ants… they terrify him for some reason…. Like pull the truck over, and get it out mom or I’ll scream and cry the rest of the drive freak out scared….

Yet… the same kid waltzes into the paddock and right into the Center of a herd of 17hand horses and makes them all bow down for a nose kiss like it’s nothing… no fear to boss around a giant horse or tell them off, but an ant! Absolutely NOT 🤦‍♀️ I guess even superman has his kryptonite

Amazing opportunity!!! The wonderful Ali Chaulk, is open to doing a clinic at Brook Field Farm! The clinic would involve:
2 or 3 riders per group
each group lasts for 1 hour +/- 15 minutes depending on if we get stuck with something.
Riders are grouped by experience level.
Each rider is $120 (includes use of horse)
English lesson with a focus on- overall equitation, performance and over fences work.
Ali will be bringing her poles & jumps
Snacks and refreshments will be provided!

This is a wonderful opportunity to get some coaching from a phenomenal coach, who can help with goals around jumping or equitation.
