Easton’s Story

My pregnancy with Easton was rather uneventful. He was a baby following the loss of his big sister's twin so my nerves were pretty high but he was a thriving, healthy baby. I was 29 weeks and 5 days pregnant when I woke up in the middle of the night to my water breaking. We went to the hospital the doctor and staff eased our minds by saying that even if he arrived that night he would be ok. We got shots for his lungs and spent the next 3 weeks and 1 day in and out of the hospital with daily monitoring of our beautiful son. Easton arrived the morning of April 4/18 5lbs 4 oz at 33 weeks! I was blessed to hold him for about 5 mins before they took him to the NICU for basic evaluation. Things turned for the worse while I was recovering. We were later rushed by helicopter to Vancouver Children's Hospital NICU. Our beautiful, chubby healthy baby was struggling for no known reason. He passed away in the early hours of April 5/18. We later found out that in his last weeks in my belly after my water had broken he suffered from oxygen deprivation due to low fluids. This caused overall organ damage that led to his passing. We are forever changed. Parents of an angel.
