Throwback to one of my favorite memories from my tattoo journey.

This was from a small tattoo competition back in Cebu, where I ended up taking home Champion out of 60 great artists in the Black & Grey category with this Loki portrait.

The funny part is that we actually arrived late to the event. We had to set up near the bleachers with the audience watching over our shoulders the entire time. At that point, winning wasn’t even on our minds—we were just focused on finishing the tattoo before time ran out.

Hearing my name called as the winner was something I never expected.

Looking back at moments like this reminds me how much I miss the energy of tattoo conventions and competitions—the pressure, the creativity, and seeing so many talented artists in one place.

I’m hoping to get back into competing again, possibly at next year’s Vancouver Tattoo Convention.
