I wrote “Take a Chance” in a season where I wasn’t actively in love with anyone in front of me—but I was completely in love with life and the idea of it. I remember sitting with that feeling of anticipation, like I could feel something coming even if it hadn’t arrived yet. It wasn’t about heartbreak or nostalgia for something lost; it was about that electric moment before anything begins, when you’re deciding to stay open anyway. I wanted the song to feel like that exact second—when you look at someone and think, just take the chance on me.
