Tip #8 Back to School:
Organize and Update Individual Learning Plans
If you are a student with a disability or your child has a disability, find time to organize your learning plans and update them with goals that you may want addressed this new year. Also, if you work with any outside agencies make sure the teachers have all the contact names and numbers needed to help you. Providing the teacher with this information early will help with starting the year off positively.
Tip #6 Back to School:
Review concepts.- A few weeks before starting school go through concepts that are fundamental across all years of learning. Take some time to review and practice math concepts, read and practice your writing skills. Many students in elementary and high school lose these skills during the summer and quickly fall behind in the first few weeks of school. Practicing these skills will help them start the school year with confidence!
Tip #4 for Back to School:
Create a "leaving space" - A leaving space may include a visual checklist of items you need to pack before you leave every morning. Make sure you pack everything you need the night before and confirm with your checklist. This will cut down on forgetting things on the days you have to rush out.
