Suzy Baker Design Studio is about Kimono Jacket Designs using exotic textiles I found in Turkey AND my collection of vintage and antique rugs and textiles, including costumes. It is eclectic but unified by my colour preferences for the natural dyes palette.

Shah Sevan Cradle or storage bag end, late 19thC.
Village people of Persia and the Caucasus made rectangular box bags called Mafrash to store bedding in during the day. The bags were decorated on the sides with exquisite embroidery and weft wrapping. Enterprising rug dealers cut the sides into 6 saleable pieces like this one.

This is a circa 1900 Quasgai rug. It is unusual for having all-over pile and intact fringe and edges. Some restoration but hard to detect. Would like a better home than my storage! 100% natural dyes and lots of beautiful greens and teal details.

Looking for a new studio my friends! Someplace to show my collection of vintage and antique rugs and "Stan" country costumes. 400 sq ft clean, wc/water for dyeing, ground or second floor would be nice. Will share. 200 sq ft is doable for my own work if there is bigger space around me. Display is important. Culture Crawl important too.

Out at a Craft Fair in the Fraser Valley on the weekend, I met a sweet youn female Alpaca named "Romance". She is a rescued Alcapa and had a damaged tail which had to be amputated, so the
owners left her hair unsheared so her bum would be warm through out the winter.

This is the Alder Bay heron having a nap by the Folly near the Community Centre. Karen says it's a she but how do you know. She looks grumpy I think. Pretty formidable too.
