Lest We Forget.
We remember all who have fallen
All those who fought for freedom from oppression
Louis Riel and Gabriel Dumont
The Métis leaders who stood up for their people’s right to exist
On a land that their people always called home
And was being exploited for a colonial government
Who saw their existence as a nuisance.
We remember all who have fallen
All those who fought against facism
Those who landed on the shores of Juno Beach
Freeing northern France of N**i occupation
May we honour their memory
And continue to fight against White supremacy
So that life can be fair and just for all.
We remember all who have fallen
All those who had no choice but to serve
So that they could find shelter and education
In a system that keeps people poor
Because the war machine keeps the wrong people wealthy
And don’t care whose lives they ruin.
We remember all who have fallen
We honour them by continuing our fight for true justice
We honour them by raising our children well
We honour them by rebuilding a better system
One that works not just for a select few
But one that works for all.
