Today marks a big day in my learning journey, I start Montessori school! I am so excited to meet new friends, learn lots and play with new toys!

We cannot wait to see the amazing growth in Adonis with this new journey. His therapy team is helping him on his journey and has been preparing him for the last year! Happy first day my sweet Adonis 💕

With ASD kiddos, their needs are all different, there is no one fits all formula. When it comes to services, it needs to be assessed what is most important for the kiddo at the stage they are at. No matter what it is, the truth is it is extremely costly.

Adonis is in 1-on-1 ABA therapy, a part time school readiness program, speech therapy once a week and a social class once a week. Do you have any idea how much that all costs?! It is over $65,000 CAD a year! That's a full time salary! That doesn't account for all the specific materials and toys we use at home to help with any specific sensory needs.

This is one of the reasons we started Awareness for Autism. We want to help families with the financial burden. Early intervention was HUGE for Adonis, he is doing so great because all of these services received. But what if it takes 4+ years to get any funding, what do you do then? The government has such a long waitlist for funding.
