No this isn’t a snow-flake promo….this is amniotic fluid! ❄️💦 This beautiful pattern seen via microscope is called ferning, which is caused by crystallization of salts and proteins present in amniotic fluid as it dries on a microscope slide. Midwives and physicians assess for this when we suspect someone’s water broke.🔬🌺
Midwife Ash snapped this amazing pic while assessing a client whose water broke this weekend- should we frame it for their little one’s nursery?! 😜💕

Friends, we are asking again for your help as we advocate for midwife Heather Gilchrist’s post-graduate work visa to be reinstated immediately. Time is running out.
Please continue to send letters to government - even if you have already done so. We have a link for a client letter and a healthcare provider letter; look for the links in our bio. We are grateful that that the office of BC Minister of Health Josie Osborne has been actively engaged in trying to advocate for Heather. Unfortunately, our local MP Will Greaves (Victoria) has been silent. The Midwives Collective has been serving Victoria families for 15 years. We are proud that our clients reflect the diversity of our beautiful city. Heather has successfully completed all provincial midwifery registration requirements and federal immigration requirements. She’s also a fabulous midwife & fantastic colleague! Please help us tell Minister Greaves that maternity care matters, women’s health matters, families matter. Thank you for your support and please help us spread the word!

The Midwives Collective is asking for support from our community. One of our amazing midwives, Heather Gilchrist, had her work visa immediately revoked and may have to leave the country after a bureaucratic government bungle. Heather is an experienced, exceptional midwife- please help us get the word out to pressure federal immigration to re-instate her visa. Please send the linked letter in the URL in our bio (and comments) and share this widely. Her full story can be watched in the news clip in our bio. Thank you!
