The Emerging Local Authors Collection is an initiative developed by GVPL to celebrate Greater Victoria’s rich writing culture. To date, 1300 unique titles and over 900 authors have been showcased in this annual collection, with featured authors ranging in age from six to 90-plus.
First Choice Books proudly support this event because for us it is very important to empower people to tell their stories. In 2022 we were very pleased to see two of our authors featured as Emerging Local Authors on the GVPL website: David Knapp Fisher, the author of Punch Failure in the Face and Maria Skelly, the author of the Pilot Light Effect.
In its eighth year, GVPL's 2023 Emerging Local Authors Collection features self-published, independent, and small press books written by local authors and published between 2013 and 2022.
