Bat-Fish Studio
Bat-Fish Studio creates
Eco designed clothing & accessories using reclaimed, repurposed textiles
People continuously ask me how I come up with design ideas especially as I start working towards a fashion show.
This year I’ll show you more behind the scenes & just what it takes to make fashion renderings become a reality.

Spending time with the Memory Cafe members at two locations this month, making up-cycled bird feeders at the Monterey Centre in Oak Bay & pretty sun catchers using reclaimed mason jar lids at the beautiful new Jubilee Amica centre.
Always lots of fun working with these lovely early onset Alzheimer’s patients, creativity is always a powerful tool at any stage of life.

Just a small slice of behind the scenes at Fashion Splash 2025 just a short five weeks ago!
Heath was very stealth in his photo taking, really capturing the chaotic & nervous energy that exists backstage as all the models for Bat-Fish Studio wait to walk THE walk on the runway!
I remember it as a bit of a blur, nervous & excited, wanting everything to be perfect after working so hard to create it, but it’s exhilarating!!
Check out the wonderful shoes! The models were so thrilled to be walking in them!

Our Story
Bat-Fish Studio: Masters of Creative Alchemy
Forging new concepts in the world of up-cycling.
Bat-Fish Studio was created in 2014 by Tracy Yerrell and was set up to address the waste that is created by the textile & fashion industry. Bat-Fish Studio focuses on working with a wide range of materials, using textiles & components that are often bound for the landfills and uses these elements as a creative starting point.
Working with materials that would otherwise be discarded, I have gone on to create a line of clothing using a combination of my original screened art work & reclaimed textiles. As materials come to the studio they are reconstructed into completely new items altogether, altered and reworked, re-imagined, refashioned, up-cycled and repurposed. By incorporating a variety of design techniques & incorporating nontraditional materials, the garments & accessories go on to become unique new pieces of wearable art.
