Varsity Performance Karate

Huge congrats to Varsity Karate athlete Yash*ta Kaku on earning her black belt!!! 👏👏👏👍💪🥋🔥. Yash*ta has been diligently practising and training since she was 6 years old (see the last photo in the post for a pic from 2018). Yash*ta has been a key member of our team since we opened our doors and we are thrilled to still have her working hard and taking on leadership rolls in the dojo. Well done Yash*ta!! 😊

Let’s go Laura and Kaiya!!! These two awesome karate athletes are on their way to the 2026 BC Winter Games to represent Zone 6 (Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast). These two have been preparing like crazy to do their best at the amazing developmental sporting Games. The karate competition is BCWG is for 12/13 year old athletes in the intermediate and advanced karate levels. Laura and Kaiya will be joined by two other Varsity Karate athletes, Joann and Pahal who were selected to attend and receive Junior Officials training. Joann and Pahal are BCWG alumni, having competing at the Games 2 years ago. Good luck all!! The Karaté competition at the Games runs Feb 27/28.
