Decoding the Needles: Acupuncture vs. Dry Needling/IMS

Ever wonder about the difference between Acupuncture and IMS (Intramuscular Stimulation)/Dry Needling? Technically, both are "dry" needling techniques—meaning they use superfine needles without injecting any fluid. While they use similar tools, they have completely different superpowers when it comes to melting away chronic muscle tension!

Think of Acupuncture as your ultimate full-body reset button. It is incredible for systemic issues like fatigue, low energy, and widespread chronic pain. By balancing your body's natural energy flow and nervous system, it helps restore whole-body harmony from the inside out.

On the flip side, IMS/Dry Needling is your targeted laser focus. It is designed to zero in on localized injuries and stubborn, tight knots locked in a specific area—like a nagging shoulder or achy lower back. The needle coaxes the hyper-irritable muscle to quickly twitch and release, providing profound relief right where you need it most.

Whether your body needs a global systemic refresh or a hyper-targeted release for localized pain, needling therapy can unlock the vibrant, tension-free movement you deserve. Your body is capable of amazing healing—sometimes it just needs a little point in the right direction!

Check it out! The Lab Health team traded in our clinic tools for pickleball paddles! This weekend, we gathered for our big staff summer social, and let’s just say… things got beautifully competitive. From epic rallies to plenty of laughs, it was the absolute perfect way to connect, move our bodies, and celebrate our amazing team.

A massive shoutout to our friends at Esquimalt Parks and Recreation ! We hosted our games at the fantastic Archie Browning Sports Centre pickleball courts, and the facility was top-notch. We are so incredibly lucky to have such vibrant, accessible recreational spaces right here in our neighborhood. If you haven't checked out their summer programs or court drop-ins yet, this is your sign to grab a paddle and get moving! 🙌

Alright, community—settle a debate for us in the comments: Who on the Lab Health team do you think took home the crown as the ultimate Pickleball Champion? 👑👇
