Job Description
Computer Science Teacher-Scholar Post-doctoral Fellowship Pilot Program (2026-27)

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Victoria invites applications for the second offering of the Computer Science Teacher-Scholar Post-doctoral Fellowship Pilot Program. This program is designed to enhance the research productivity of the department, provide the department with additional teaching resources, and provide fellows with additional teaching mentorship and the opportunity to develop a teaching portfolio prior to entering the job market. Co-supervision is welcome.

This is a one-year fellowship, renewable for a second year subject to satisfactory teaching performance, continued support of the supervisor(s), and continued availability of departmental funds. The annual salary range for this position is $60,000 - $85,000. The applicant's qualifications and experience will determine the final salary offer.

To be eligible, applicants must:
• hold a doctoral degree in a computing discipline at the time of appointment (applicants not from the University of Victoria will be given preference);
• be physically present in Greater Victoria for the start of the fellowship and for all teaching terms; and
• be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident (PR), or hold an appropriate visa at the start of and for the duration of the fellowship.

This posting is an invitation for prospective fellows to connect with faculty members whose research aligns with their own to explore potential supervisory relationships. Prospective supervisors should apply to [email protected] by July 2, 2026.

Applications must include:
• the applicant’s Curriculum Vitae (CV);
• a one-page research statement outlining the applicant’s proposed research project;
• a one-page teaching statement outlining the applicant’s teaching philosophy, experience, and topics of interest (naming specific courses taught in the department would be advantageous);
• a one-page Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) statement describing the applicant’s approach to EDI in the classroom and workplace, reflecting on lived experience where applicable;
• a 15-minute video simulating a computer science classroom lecture covering material of the applicant’s choice at the 100, 200, or 300 level (see https://www.uvic.ca/ecs/computerscience/undergraduate/courses/index.php); and
• a letter of support from the prospective supervisor(s) (including the selection of the full or the half option and a commitment to pay their portion of the fellowship).
