Today’s catch gave us something we didn’t expect.

When we cleaned a beautiful steelhead (rainbow trout), its stomach was absolutely packed with round gobies.

For years, we’ve watched species like smallmouth bass, walleye, yellow perch, and whitefish shift their diets to take advantage of this invasive baitfish. But seeing a traditionally pelagic feeder—one that most anglers associate with chasing smelt and baitfish higher in the water column—feeding so heavily on gobies was a real eye-opener.

It’s another reminder that fish are incredibly adaptable. As round gobies continue to dominate many of our lakes and rivers, more and more species are recognizing them as an easy, high-protein food source.

That’s exactly why, back in 2019, we made the decision to focus on designing and manufacturing soft plastic goby baits. We wanted baits that weren’t just “goby-shaped,” but were anatomically accurate, available in natural, fish-catching colours, and offered in multiple sizes and styles for different techniques and conditions.
